1951 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster on Sale

1951 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster on Sale (1)

A beautiful 1951 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster will be auctioned at a starting price of $88,100. Manufactured between 1948 and 1954, the car made its appearance as a roadster at the 1948 London Motor Show to present the new Jaguar XK engine.

The piece on sale was the first car with an aluminum body at that time and the 120 in its name comes from the top speed of 120mph, which made the XK120 the world’s fastest standard production car. At the beginning it was a convertible roadster, from 1953 a drophead coupé and from 1951, a closed coupé.

The car is painted in the original classic green color on the outside, with a lighter shade for the leather interior. The original UK registration and numbers were also kept. Those who want to check the authenticity of its 4-speed manual transmission engine can see the available Jaguar/Daimler certificate.

Of course this car could not have been kept in such a good condition without some improvements. After it was restored in the 1980s, other changes were added: five new Turbospeed tires in 2008, a new aluminum petrol tank in 2009, a stainless steel exhaust system, the fitment of a lead-free cylinder and a new battery are just some of them. This is indeed a cared-for and trim car which boasts 9,000 miles in the last 12 years. Quite a jewel isn’t it?
