1948 Tucker Torpedo Sold for Almost $3 Million

1948 Tucker Torpedo Sold for Almost $3 Million (5)

This gorgeous 1948 Tucker Torpedo was recently sold at the 2012 Berrett-Jackson auction for a whopping $2,650,000. The buyer actually had to pay $2,915,000 to be able to take it home, but connoisseurs will agree that the car was worth every penny.

Only 51 of these incredibly innovative vehicles were ever built by Preston Tucker, before the company went under in 1949. This was a very successful car though, with features that had been unheard of before its appearance: fuel injection, rear engine, disk brakes and a “Cyclops Eye” headlight which lit up when the vehicle was steered by more than ten degrees.

Still in excellent condition today, this beautiful Tucker sedan is a true gem in it’s new owner’s collection.
