130 Barrow Street Loft by ixdesign

130 Barrow Street Loft by ixdesign (12)

Ixdesign redid the 130 Barrow Street Loft, situated in New York City’s West Village. The apartment is part of a 1931 building which served as a truck garage before it was converted to condominiums in 1983.

The 1,050 square foot apartment had several drawbacks: limited natural light, outdated décor and awkward geometry. All these were fixed by ixdesign, which transformed it into a luxury loft-style apartment. The fittings and finishes were stripped away and all the walls were painted in neutral white to integrate them with the ceiling structure. The modern, natural walnut furniture reinforces the unity of the space, infusing simple sophistication. The irregular shapes of the architecture were carved out or augmented to maximize the storage areas. The end product is a simple but yet sophisticated, modern loft-style apartment.
