Yoshiki’s Crystal Piano Might Fetch $73 Million for Japan

Yoshiki of X Japan (a Japanese heavy metal band) donated his crystal piano for a tsunami charity auction initiated by Yahoo!. Soon after the auction began, bids started growing at a mind-boggling rate.

When finally a whooping $73 million was offered for the piano (which is actually made of plexiglass, not real crystal) last week, the auction had to stop. The mystery bidder was contacted by Yahoo! to see if the offer was serious or just a bad joke, but he or she hasn’t replied yet. Yahoo! will wait for another few days for confirmation, and if no response will come, the auction will be reopened.

Yoshiki is not the only celebrity who has joined the auction to help Japan. Some 280 famous men and women have contributed with personal items to the big sale.
