Next time you feel like going out with your friends to have a good beer, consider going underwater! We’re talking about the world’s first and only deep-sea bar, custom built inside a 118 square-foot submarine, and flaunting an out-of-this-world interior design, inspired by the magical underwater world of unique colors and textures.
This project was commissioned for Guinness’ 250 anniversary, and it is basically a radically altered submarine, designed by London-based architecture company Jump Studios. The interior shell was prefabricated outside the vessel, then assembled inside the submersible in sub-zero temperatures, and finally submersed in the cold deep waters of the Baltic Sea.
A special glass reinforced plastic material was used for the unique interiors, and rubber discs were used to create an air-bubble-like environment. Some of these “bubbles” feature LED lights for ambiance, while others can be used for holding your Guinness beers. To make this project a complete success, its makers also introduced advanced safety protocols and perfect ventilation systems. So if claustrophobia is not an issue for you, go ahead and take your friends out to the world’s first deep sea bar!
