The rich and famous spare no expenses in order to show off their wealth or celebrate important events under the media’s eyes. Here you have five of the most expensive celebrations in the world that clearly show we’re right.

5. Sultan of Brunei Party (2006)

Number five on the list is the Sultan of Brunei and the $27 million party that he threw for no less than 10,000 guests. At some point during the celebration, he decided to make the event even more exciting, and announced a pay raise for the civil servants of the kingdom: the first one in two decades!

4. The Wedding of Lakshmi Mittal’s Daughter (2004)

The world famous Indian steel magnate threw a huge party for his lovely daughter, Vanisha Mittal. She and her husband Amit Bhatia celebrated their love in a 17th century chateau in France, called Vaux le Vicomte. The whole deal cost a massive $60 million.

The media had prepared us all for month for what had been announced to be a fairy tale-like royal wedding for Kate Middleton and her Prince Charming. And when it finally happened, it really was. The celebration lasted an entire week and a 20,000-seat stadium was built for the event. Thirty-four private jets ensured transportation to all guests.
