Chopard has unveiled the only high frequency mechanical timepiece with COSC certification: the L.U.C. 8HF. Inside the classic, elegant case is an impressive 8Hz or 57,600 vph escapement. Part of the calibre L.U.C. 01.06-L movement can be viewed through the watch’s caseback, and that’s the only thing about this watch that hints to its remarkable performance.
It will be very interesting to see how Chopard fans will react to the off-centered design of the new model. The watchmaker says that the 8HF will only be produced in 100 units, as an experimental series. The 42mm case is made of titanium and so is the pin buckle, while the hand-sewn strap is made of black alligator leather with cognac-colored alligator lining.
