Vintage Volkswagen Microbus Sold for Over $200,000

This perfectly restored vintage Volkswagen Microbus made quite an impression at a recent Orange County auction held by Barrett-Jackson auction company. Some very beautiful vehicles were presented at the Californian event, but none of them fetched as much as this 1963 Volkswagen Samba Microbus, which went for $217,800, bidder’s fee included.

Sambas were good vehicles in their time, but still nobody can fully understand why the winning bidder was willing to shell out so much money on the bus. Part of the explanation is that this VW was actually restored to a “much-better-than-new condition”. Other remarkable cars at the event were a 1964 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III James Young sedan ($159,500), a 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger ($215,600) and a 2005 Ford GT ($165,000).
