Vespa 150 TAP Scooter Flaunts Its Own Cannon

Even though mopeds aren’t exactly the most popular vehicles when it comes to aesthetics, one can’t argue with their practicality and versatility, which is probably why the French Special Forces decided to use them during their struggles in the second Indochina and Algerian wars. This incredible Vespa 150 TAP scooter is on display at the Vespa Museum, and what makes it stand out rather brazenly is the fact that it is equipped with its own cannon.

Only about 500 examples of this menacing moped were ever made, all powered by 150cc two-stroke engines. These things were parachuted down into warzones on palettes while being enveloped in hay-bales for protection. As crude as the deployment methods may seem, they were actually quite effective, and once the scooter was finally down to earth, its user could do some serious damage with that light anti-armor cannon. With a top speed of 40 mph, the Vespa 150 TAP wasn’t exactly the slowest thing on the battlefield either.
