The Pink Star Diamond Will Be Auctioned Off by Sotheby’s

Widely considered the most valuable pink diamond in the world, the lavish 59.6-carat Pink Star will be auctioned off on November 13 by Sotheby’s at the Beau-Rivage Hotel near Lake Geneva. Due to its generous size and unique, deep color, this diamond is expected to fetch as much as $60 million, since its unique color and sheer size is unmatched by any other precious stone in the world.

If we are to look at other similar auctions that took place not too long ago, we notice that high-end diamonds are highly popular with well-heeled individuals. The 34.65-carat pink Princie Diamond, for example, was sold by Christie’s for $39.3 million, while Sotheby’s auctioned off a 6-carat pink and blue diamond ring in Hong Kong for $10 million.

If sold successfully, the flawless Pink Star would break several records. Moreover, the chairman of Sotheby’s Switzerland, David Bennett, described this magnificent stone as belonging in “the ranks of the earth’s greatest natural treasures.”
