The Milhous Collection will be presented in the Sotheb’s lobby, located in New York, from December 1st until January 6th.
Central to the collection are two mechanical musical instruments and a vintage 1911 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Seven-Passenger Roi des Belges, with beautifully crafted coachwork by Aldford & Alder. One of the instruments is a Cremona Style K Orchestrion with three ranks of pipes, designed by Marquette Piano Co. from Chicago. The other is a Mills Automatic Virtuosa which, fortunately, was fully restored.
Coming back to the Rolls-Royce, we can add that it is a rare model. Besides this car, there is only one 1914 Silver Ghost Tourer left toimpress the 21st century public.Other interesting exhibits are a 1933 Delage D8S, with coachwork byFreestone & Webb, a 1939 Lagonda Rapide V-12 once owned by Rober Montgomery, a 1934 Packard Eight Convertible Victoria, owned by actress Marie Dressler and a 1930 Duesenberg Model J Murphy Convertible Sedan (J208), which has as owner the beautiful Dolores Del Rio.
