Audi has finally unveiled the official full details of the new R8 GT Spyder. The 2012 V10-powered convertible boasts a variety of lightweight materials that ensure a weight reduction of approximately 187 lbs. For instance, the cover of the soft top, the rear bumper and the rear spoiler are made of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic. Another important role in saving weight are the new seats, which are nearly 70 pounds lighter than the ones seen in the coupe version.
Other improvements include a dual-lip front spoiler, dark LED taillights, a new rear diffuser, round tailpipes and carbon fiber winglets on the front bumper. The Spyder received the same power output found in the coupe: 560 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque, coming out of a 5.2-liter V10 engine. The 0 to 62 mph time is of just 3.8 seconds and the top speed is 197 of mph. Production is limited to only 333 units, but the U.S. price hasn’t been announced yet. In Germany however, the Audi R8 GT Spyder will sell for approximately $300,000.
