Our favorite tuning packages are those that are custom made for cars that are already awesome in their stock version. A perfect example is this outstanding McLaren MP4 12C by Hennessey Performance. Still in concept stage, the car has already swept us off our feet, and we are hopelessly in love with it.
The Texas-based tuning company was not intimidated by the car’s phenomenal performance and cutting-edge technologies: they saw its awesomeness as a challenge and an invitation to better the good to the point where it becomes evil! They took the stock version 3.8-liter 90 V8 engine and tweaked it to produce a staggering 800 horsepower (up from 450 horsepower).
They swapped the original twin turbo setup with their own HPE800 Twin Turbo unit, and introduced an impressive list of other mechanical changes. These include an upgraded intercooler, ECU, fuel management system, transmission clutch system, custom dyno-tuned engine calibration, an in-house titanium exhaust system, and more.
The increased power will be matched by better aerodynamics and improved downforce, thanks to the new exterior package. This includes modified side skirts, new hood, a discreet rear wing, front and rear aprons, wider air intakes, and a new rear diffuser. All body modifications are made in carbon fiber for less weight and extra resistance. Also part of the package are new huge Monoblock wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, but no suspension and brake modification.
The upgraded interior will flaunt fine leather and Alcantara touches, but there aren’t any photos yet to show us what Hennessy did in this department. We’ll just have to wait patiently for the project to progress and for more pictures to emerge.
