The District Luxury Mall to Be Opened in 2017 in Abu Dhabi (5)

A new luxury mall – and one of the biggest in the UAE – will reportedly be opened on Saadiyat Island, working as a triangle meant to connect the three mega museums that will be opened in Abu Dhabi in 2017. The magnificent construction will be developed by the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) together with L Real Estate. The latter is a minority investor in LVMH, owner of the iconic Louis Vuitton brand, which explains why LV experts will play a major role in designing the mall.

Spanning 168,000 square meters (over 1,808,300 square feet), The District – this is how the construction will be dubbed – will have 3 stories and four different zones. It will flaunt over 550 stores, plus various types of family entertainment venues, art galleries, restaurants, cafés and more. Two of the three levels will include outdoor spaces: the Luxury Street with elite fashion stores, the Canal with restaurants and cafés, and the Main Street with more stores and cafés.

Construction will begin sometime next year, on a 17-hectare property in the new cultural district. If everything goes according to plan, The District will be finished at about the same time as the Abu Dhabi Guggenheim Museum, meaning that they will both open its gates to visitors in 2017.
