Tesla’s New And Amazing Model X Crossover

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the prototype for the Model X is actually not very different from the production version of the emissions-free crossover. That’s great news for the eco-conscious customers who also want the very best in terms of performance and style.

The vehicle’s platform is based on that of the Model S, only a bit heavier. Buyers will have the possibility to choose from a rear-wheel drive and an all-wheel drive configuration, with the latter being able to complete the 0-60 mph sprint in only 4.4 seconds. Two independent electric motors give power to the crossover and can keep it rolling for as much as 160 miles in the base version. For extra mileage, customers can choose a battery upgrade that will up those numbers to 230 or even 300 miles.

With three rows of seats (all facing forward), the Model X can transport seven adults. The second row slides forward allowing easy access to the third row. The spectacular gullwing-style doors also help a lot when someone wants to step in: as they rise upwards, they do not become an obstacle for whoever tries to get into the car.

The project’s release date is set for 2015, but production will probably start sometime during 2013-2014. Reservations however have already started on the company’s website.
