Royal Oak Concept RD#1 Watch By Audemars Piguet

There’s no better way to celebrate a famed watchmaker’s 140th anniversary than by releasing a unique watch. Courtesy of Audemars Piguet, luxury watch enthusiasts and connoisseurs get to feast their eyes on the Royal Oak Concept RD#1, which has been in development since 2006. It was that year that Audemars Piguet decided to leave the traditional way of making watches behind and set on towards a more innovative and original path.

The timepiece in question includes an innovative minute repeater that was designed with the help of the Ecole Polytechnique Federal de Lausanne. Following the input of string instrument experts and experienced craftsmen, the brand ensured that the repeater would feature outstanding volume and sound quality. An interesting choice was to place the minute repeater within a water resistant case, which is unusual because airtight cases usually influence sound quality in a negative way.

The case is made out of titanium and measures 44mm. It is water resistant to 65 feet and incorporates manual winding caliber 2874SS that flaunts a column wheel chronograph and a tourbillon.
