Porsche Marks 911’s 50th Anniversary with a New 911 GT3 RSR

The 911 GT3 RSR racer from Porsche has enjoyed so much success, that the German automaker felt compelled to release a new generation of the awesome race car, based on the brand new 991-Series 911 GT3 RSR, just in time to mark the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911.

Motorsport enthusiasts will have the pleasure of watching it race in several competitions this year, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 2013 season of the World Endurance Championship. North American tracks, however, will not receive any visits from the new ride.

Apparently the 2013 model has a 4-inch larger wheelbase, a new wishbone front suspension, lower center of gravity, better weight distribution, and a 4.0-liter boxer six-cylinder engine with 460 HP of muscle. The gearbox is a lightweight 6-speed racing unitoffering excellent results with minimum weight gain. Porsche also used polycarbonate windows and a lot of carbon fiber on the car for the same purpose.

To mark the important anniversary, the automaker placed the number 50 in several key places on the car. Check it out in the gallery below.
