Original Formula Cognac from Pierre Ferrand

Inspired by the 19th century style, when cognacs were extensively used in cocktails, Pierre Ferrand created the 1840 Original Formula cognac, bottled at 45% alcohol per volume (90 proof). The beverage is best served in mixes, as it is much stronger than the other Pierre Ferrand products.

Developed by Ferrand president Alexandre Gabriel in collaboration with cocktail historian Davis Wondrich and cellar master Christian Guerin, the new blend will have its official international launch on August 1. The three masters that worked together in creating the 1840 Original Formula had to evaluate and taste surviving 19th century “three star” cognacs to help them develop the new “revival” blend.

As New Orleans is famous for its cognac cocktails of yore, Ferrand decided to launch its latest creation here, with over 35 bars and restaurants already serving different cocktails using 1840 Original Formula cognac.
