Having your own island is a big deal indeed, but it’s not really a great surprise for people anymore. Having your own mountain peaks on the other hand … well that’s definitely something you don’t hear every day. Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG) is the name of Austria’s federal real estate company and they have announced that the country is selling two mountain peaks in the Alps.
Together, the Grosser Kinigat (2,690 m) and the Rosskopf (2,600) cost only €121,000 (approx. $175,000) and they are said to offer some of the most amazing views of the Carnic Alps. Because they are very popular among hikers and climbers, the only condition of the purchase is to keep them open for mountain lovers.
Locals are not exactly thrilled about this decision of the Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft, but that shouldn’t keep you from entering the biding contest. You can do so until July 8, but you should know that there already are twenty people who have placed their bids for the two mountain peaks.
