Most Expensive Mercedes Benz Sold at Auction: $9.68 Million

This year’s RM Auctions Monterey sale was a phenomenal success. It attracted bidders from twenty different countries (including Japan, the United Arab Emirates and Argentina) and registered record sales. The star of the event was a 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Spezial Roadster by Sindelfingen, which fetched a staggering $8.8 million ($9.68 million with buyer’s premium). The opening bid for the car was $5 million and the price went up quickly in a fierce bidding war. This is now the new most expensive Mercedes ever sold at auction.
