Magnificent Sperone Golf Course in Corsica Now for Sale

One of the preferred places of rich golfers is the beautiful Corsica island in the Mediterranean. Here they find one of the world’s most stunning courses, named the Sperone Golf Course, which boasts a whopping 6,106 meters (over 20,000 feet).

The current main shareholder of the property is Georges Dewez, the son of Jacques Dewez who bought the land back in 1960, paying 1 franc per square meter. Now Mr. Dewez wants to sell the course for £20 million (approx. $25 million), but this worries the mayor of Bonifacio, Jean-Charles Orsucci, who believes that it would be better for the terrain to remain in the hands of the locals, instead of falling “into the hands of a foreign group which would be difficult to identify”.

He hopes that the owners of the land will somehow come to an agreement in order to keep the current ownership unaltered. Orsucci said that the commune will follow the sale with great interest to see what happens. Right now, the course attracts about 20,000 fans from all over the world every year, making the property a key player in the local economy.
