The world-famous actor, filmmaker, director and writer Sylvester Stallone is also the brand ambassador for Montegrappa, an Italian manufacturer of luxury writing instruments.” Chaos” is the name of the company’s latest collection, which was developed together with the Hollywood star himself. Stallone found inspiration for this project in his incredibly successful film, The Expendables.
Made of black pearlised celluloid and covered in precious metal (sterling silver or 18-karat gold), the writing instruments are decorated with symbols of life and death – skulls and reptiles. While the skulls obviously represent death, the crawling reptiles are representations of early life on earth. Red and yellow translucent enamel is also part of the design, and it represents fire.
The high-end Chaos collection will be on display on November 9 at the renowned Club Macanudo in New York, during a special event. Montegrappa will create 1,000 fountain pens and 912 roller balls in sterling silver, to represent the year in which the company was founded – 1912. The 18-karat version will be available in 100 fountain pens and 100 roller balls, but there will also be a third version of the writing instrument, in 18-karat gold and studded with precious stones. These will be limited to 10 fountain pens and 10 roller balls.
