We’ve already heard about a living-room-garage for a Ferrari, so a swimming pool in the living room does not come as a shock to us. Evelyn McMurray Van-Zeller is the owner of the only home in New York with 30,000 gallons of water in the living room. She is not however the first to own this mansion, and is not the one who commissioned the unconventional swimming pool either. Measuring 15 feet in width, 30 feet in length and 8 feet in depth, the pool was installed back in 1975 by previous owners of the house.
Mrs. Van Zeller inherited the house in 1995 from her brother and she loves every inch of it. She describes the living room as having a “cave-like, medieval, Moroccan look” and she sais that living in this house feels like being on a constant vacation. Mrs. Van Zeller lives in this amazing $10.955 million mansion together with her husband João Van-Zeller and their pets. According to her, their Yorkshire terrier and their turtles sometimes go for a swim in the indoor pool.
Divided into a triplex, the residence has two rental apartments with fireplaces on the top floors, available for $5,000 and $4,000 respectively. There is a total of 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms in the house. Also there are five fireplaces throughout and a garden with small pool for the turtles.
