All you need to do is solve the hunt in each of the book’s twelve chapters for the silver eagles, and gather all the clues in the book to find where the big prize is hidden. The silver replicas of the big eagle are made of 99% pure silver and boast blue eyes made of 1.5-carat sapphires. Each example weighs approximately 15 pounds.
The big prize however is much more impressive than that. It’s made of solid gold and covered with diamonds: two 1.1-carat diamond eyes and 763 more diamonds adorn the bird’s head. The statue also boasts the largest cut emerald from a Spanish Treasure Galleon, lost in 1622 and recovered in 1985 by Mel Fisher. The treasure was called Atocha and the gem is known as the Atocha Star. Weighing nearly 19 pounds, the gold eagle statue is one of the ten largest statues made of solid gold in the last five centuries.
