How much of a change can an Oscar make in an actor’s/actress’s career? You would be surprised to learn the extent of a golden statue’s effect on a person’s life. Aside from the personal stuff that happens in an Academy Award winner’s life, there are some really surprising other changes that occur in areas that have very little to do with the person itself.
For instance, after Jenifer Lawrence became the best actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, her wardrobe suddenly became much more valuable than before. The clothes that she wore in the film have recently been sold by the Nate D Sanders auction house for much more than previously estimated. Even though they had been believed to go for $500-$1500 apiece, the props stirred a furious bidding contest in which the highest price for one lot was $4,652. It was a black Moda International coat.
Other ridiculously expensive pieces included a set of blue long-sleeved shirt and teal sports bra, which fetched $3,175, and a pair of custom white pants that Jenifer wore for the ballroom dance scene next to Bradley Cooper. The young actress’s success was so big, that her fans even paid $624 for a black top that she came in contact with but never actually wore in any movie scene. The total sale was of $12,000.
Bradley Cooper, on the other hand, only managed to squeeze $262 from her fans, for a pair of sweatpants that he sported in the film.
