Impressive New Automotive Skeleton Watch By Ralph Lauren

Well known and respected as one of the world’s leading fashion designers, Ralph Lauren is also quite the car lover, which why he sometimes creates wonderful timepieces inspired by automobiles from his collection. A fine example is the Automotive Skeleton watch, which was revealed during the 2015 SIHH event. Honoring Ralph’s own 1938 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic Coupe, the watch impresses with an elegant Amboyna burl wood bezel.

This material was not chosen randomly, as it used to be quite popular during the 1930s, particularly when it came to adorning the instrument panels of high-end cars. The black matte galvanic Azure dial is complemented by a 12 o’clock subdial that flaunts the renowned RL badge. The black oxidized hands that indicate the hours and minutes are enveloped in Super-LumiNova for improved readability in low light conditions.
The power comes from a Swiss IWC movement that requires manual winding and boasts a power reserve of 45 hours. A black alligator leather strap and a stainless steel pin buckle keep the timepiece firmly onto its wearer’s wrist. No word on the price just yet, but we won’t be surprised if it ends up being $35,000 or so.
