HY-X Yacht By Hydross

Even though they look a little odd, hydrofoils are hugely important for watercraft, as they allow for a smoother and easier glide across the surface of the water by reducing friction. Hydrofoils are already the key elements of numerous projects, and the one that caught our eye is the HY-X prototype by Hydross.

The vessel represents a smaller version of a much larger 41-foot yacht that’s set to be completed by the same company. HY-X was designed with the help of a French firm named JMKoncept, and it flaunts a conventional as well as a hydrofoil-based operating mode that can be enabled at the touch of a button.
With the two side foils deployed, the watercraft is taller by 3.3 feet, and it becomes considerably faster. Thanks to a pair of 35-horspower engines, the 20.5-ft prototype is able to reach speeds of up to 30 knots, which is definitely nothing to sneeze at.
