According to Alexander Historical Auctions, this particular copy of Hitler’s Mein Kampf book actually belonged to the man himself and was discovered by US soldiers in Munich at the end of World War II. Bound in leather, the book is signed by 11 officers from a US field artillery battalion of the 45 Infantry Division, and as you can probably imagine, it stirred quite a bit of interest when it was put under the hammer.

It became so popular, in fact, that there were more than 10 bidders for it, but the book eventually ended up in the hands of an American buyer, who spent $20,655 for the privilege of calling it his own. Initially, the book had been valued at $12,000 to $15,000, but the auctioneers clearly underestimated its worth.
