Fibonacci’s Book of Calculation for Auction

If you’re the kind of person who appreciates ancient writings of high historical value, then Bonham’s auction of “Fine Books and Manuscripts” is definitely an event that you want to find out about. On June 22, Bonham’s New York will feature one of the most important manuscripts in history, known as Liber Abaci, or the Book of Calculation, by Fibonacci.

Fibonacci was an Italian mathematician who is best known for spreading the Hindu-Arabic numeral system in Europe. The main publication that he used for this purpose was exactly the Liber Abaci in which he explains the benefit of adopting the new numeral system.

Only 12 copies of the book have ever been found, and most of them belong to the Vatican. This example however can be yours for an estimated $120,000-$180,000.
