Hermes handbags often sell for incredible sums of money, and every now and again, someone comes along and helps break the “most expensive” record. This time around, we’re talking about a 13-inch 2008 Birkin in cherry red “Braise” crocodile skin complemented by 18k white gold hardware and exceptional diamonds. The bag sold for $298,000, which is interesting because it was originally purchased from Hermes for $160,000.
It was sold by Prive Porter to an anonymous buyer from Los Angeles, and even though it might be hard for some of us to understand why someone would spend almost $300,000 on a “mere” handbag, we’re quite sure that the next owner will end up paying even more for it. It’s just the way things are with these Hermes products, and there’s really nothing wrong with that.
