The Eiffel Tower is one of the most recognizable symbols of France and of Paris, and it is definitely one of the country’s most famous tourist attractions. With endless waves of tourists visiting the landmark each and every year, it stands to reason that the tower would need a renovation, and with the ever-increasing popularity of glass platforms such as Chicago’s The Ledge, the Iron Lady ended up receiving its own glass floor.
The renovation cost $38.4 million, and aside from the glass floor, it also includes the addition of solar panels and the opening of a special museum dedicated to the tower’s history. The person who cut the ribbon for the event was none other than Mayor Anne Hidalgo herself.
The glass floor is found on the tower’s first level, and it sits 200 feet above the ground. This means that it allows visitors to experience unique and thrilling sensations, and many of them gathered to capture amazing pictures in original and sometimes funny poses. Selfies are particularly popular at the Eiffel Tower’s glass floor.
