Chinese products are sometimes associated with poor build quality and cheap materials, and even though some of these items certainly have their place on the market, it’s also true that the Chinese are capable of creating incredibly luxurious and reliable products. A fine example is the $800,000 L5 limousine, which was designed by a company named Hongqi.
This is the most expensive Chinese car ever built, and once you have a look at its gorgeous retro design and powerful engine, you begin to realize that the price is justified in full. Under the hood, the car has a 6.0-liter V12 engine that’s good for 405 lb-ft. of torque and 400 horsepower. On the outside, the large radiator grille, rounded headlights and vertical taillights remind us of the 1966 Chrysler-based CA770, which is a very beautiful car in its own right. Inside, whoever is lucky enough to own one of these beauties gets to enjoy hand-carved wood trims on the dashboard, leather upholstery, a two-spoke steering wheel and contemporary electronics such as a digital instrument cluster and a tablet that integrates into the armrest.
