The World project in Dubai has had a pretty rough history so far. Fortunately, things seem to be getting better for the artificial archipelago, as its first island (“Lebanon”) is now ready to welcome its lavish guests. Apparently the World Island Beach Club is celebrating the new year by opening its doors to the island’s visitors. The 39,000-sq.m. (419,792-sq.ft.) island will be a new luxury destination for wealthy tourists interested in exploring a smaller version of Lebanon.
After rumors of “The World” sinking into the sea, and many financial difficulties slowing the development of the bold project, the owner of “Lebanon”, Wakil Admed Azmi, is finally proud to announce that his man-made island will soon be hosting its first guests. The property can be accessed by water taxi (it’s 30 minutes away from the shoreline), but there is also a pontoon for private yachts of up to 80 feet in length. Apparently approximately 40 medium-sized yachts can be anchored in the waters near the island.
Reports say that “Lebanon” will feature 50 beach loungers, eight cabanas, eight luxury changing rooms with showers, different entertainment facilities, a lounge area, a restaurant for 100 diners, and a special area for important events (functions, weddings, etc) with enough space for up to 500 guests. This impressive project cost $16,3 million to complete, but something tells us this money will be soon recovered once the club opens itself to its exclusive members.
