Nowadays, most of our cars rely on technologies such as ABS and power steering, but there was a time when cars were much simpler and albeit more difficult to drive. Still, a true automobile enthusiast needs to appreciate a car in its most basic form, and this is exactly the kind of message that a Dutch manufacturer named Donkervoort is trying to convey with its unique vehicles. The company’s latest model, the D8 GTO-RS is a barely street legal masterpiece based on the D8 GTO model.
It is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five engine that’s probably able to dish out more than 380 horsepower. Apart from the engine, the upgraded model also includes a new suspension, better handling, a widened stance and more reliable brakes. Limited to just four units, the D8 GTO-RS by Donkervoort will cost about $175,000.
