Dazzling Replica of the Famous Great Imperial Crown of Russia (5)

Recently revealed at the International Jewellery Exhibition in St. Petersburg, this superb replica of the Great Imperial Crown of Russia is an outstanding work of art. The original crown is currently at display at the Moscow Kremlin Armoury State Diamond Fund, where it silently speaks about the glory that its wearer once enjoyed.

The lavish adornment was a symbol of power and status, so it had to be decorated with breathtaking gems: almost 5,000 diamonds and red spinels. This translates to 398.72 carats of precious stones. The crown was created by court jewelers Ekart and Jeremia Pauzie for Russia’s longest-ruling female leader, Catherine II. She received the jewel on the occasion of her coronation in 1762.

The spectacular replica of the crown was designed using a whopping 110,000 diamonds and is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. You can take a closer look at its intricate design in the photos below.
