With a rich history and vast experience in watch making, Jaquet Droz has found a unique and innovative way to merge past with present in one superb limited edition creation. It is called Bird Repeater, and it is inspired by the 18th century’s fascination with bird automatons. The watch manufacturer was founded in 1738, so it knows a thing or two about exquisite timepieces and fascinating complications.
Based on its rich legacy, and after many years of research and development, Jaquet Droz has a fresh new story to tell, and we definitely love it. The Bird Repeater is available in white or red gold, the first also boasting dazzling diamond decorations. It is powered by a Caliber RMA88 hand wound movement with 508 parts, including 69 jewels.
The most remarkable feature of the watch is obviously the minute repeater automaton that is connected to a bird nest with two birds taking care of their three chicks, of which one is just hatching. The landscape is complete with a waterfall that is continuously flowing, as it is painted on a rotating disc. You should also know that the nest and the birds are engraved and painted by hand.
Only 16 Bird Repeaters will ever be created, 8 in red gold, and 8 more in white gold with diamonds. Priced at $472,500 and $493,500, respectively, the watches also feature black alligator leather straps for extra elegance.
