California’s Levi’s Stadium will soon host the 50th edition of the Super Bowl, and in order to celebrate this extraordinary milestone, the NFL has partnered up with the Council of Fashion Designers of America in order to create a series of bespoke footballs. The balls will be put under the hammer via NFL’s own website, and they were sketched out by famed designers such as Sam Edelman, Nicole Miller, Prabal Gurung and Rebecca Minkoff. Overall, fifty designers contributed their own ideas to this incredible project.
This year, some of the special footballs were designed following a gold theme, but some designers decided to go with more unconventional and original ideas. For example, Betsey Johnson created a feminine football for the ladies, while Todd Snyder went for a funky chino football. Moreover, Rachel Roy designed a python ball with a gold-plated jewelry handle on top complemented by hand-painted logos.
