Bentley Might Produce a Four-Door Coupe in 2018

The expert carmakers at Bentley have big plans for the future. Not only do they plan to create an SUV, but now it seems that they want to make a four-door coupe, and given the fact that they did such a brilliant job with the Continental GT, they might pull it off in the end with flying colors.

Now a “four-door coupe” is regarded by most as a self-contradicting concept, but that may not be the case anymore in 2018 when Bentley wants to release their new car. The vehicle would probably be placed somewhere in its own class but below the Continental GT, and it would have to compete with the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG and BMW M6 Gran Coupe. In terms of size, the new model should fit within the same measurements as the Continental, while the price tag would be between $168,650 and $202,380, which might make the car difficult to sell in such a competitive market.

The big question now is: what platform will they settle on? Most experts concur that the MSB platform of the Porsche Panamera would be an obvious choice, while others suggest the D5 architecture of the next Audi A8. Power wise, Bentley will probably equip its four-door coupe with 3.0-liter V6 and a 4.0-liter V8 engines. Whether their plans will actually materialize or not, it remains to be seen.
