Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore 2014

Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak collection saved the brand during the famous ‘quartz crisis’ in the watch world during the 1970s which almost sank the majority of Swiss watch manufacturers. The collection regained Audemars’ dramatic decrease in sales and helped them not experience a financial collapse. With the Royal Oak’s fame, it meant the brand could elaborate the design to create a new collection- Royal Oak Offshore.

The Royal Oak Offshore collection consists of a more sporty and larger design than the original Royal Oak models. A variety of the models are also limited editions from ambassadors of the brand from sports celebrities like footballer Leo Messi, basketball player LeBron James and retired F1 driver Michael Schumacher.

This year, 21 years after the Royal Oak Offshore collection was introduced, Audemars Piguet have created six new models to add to the collection.

Three of the watches have ‘hornback’ alligator straps, one has a regular alligator strap, one has a rose gold strap and one has a blue rubber strap. Each have ceramic crown and chronograph pushers with chronograph function and sub-dials and a date window at 3 o’clock. They also feature a Tachymeter around the outer dial.
