Carlisle Events and Auctions America by RM will organize a new event, called Auburn Spring, which will happen for the first time in Auburn Auction Park on May 12. Precious motorcycles and automobiles will be displayed and then sold there, and one of the most important exhibits for this year is a GM Futurliner bus of the ‘40s and ’50s. It is expected to sell for $450,000-$600,000.
The vehicle hasn’t been restored and it’s like a piece of automotive history brought to the present. Only 12 units were ever built, and today just eight are known to still exist. The only things that are not part of the original bus are the new tires, the plexiglass windshield and the rubber and metal siding. To complete the picture, a beautifully restored GM Futurliner bus will also be showcased at the auction. This is the first time an original and a restored version of the bus are displayed together.
