G Janardhana Reddy is the minister of tourism and infrastructure in Karnataka, India. This is apparent in his official 2010 wealth statement (assets and liabilities), where he shows that he owns a golden chair worth Rupees 2.2 crores (about half a million dollars), golden religious idols worth Rupees 2.58 crores (over half a million dollars), countless jewels and gems, expensive house amenities, buildings, agricultural land and ancestral property.
The list of jewels alone occupies three pages of his statement, with various items like necklaces, earrings, bangles, pendants, men’s jewelry and all sorts of precious stones. The silver articles that he owns are mostly pooja items and tableware and they are worth tens of lakhs. Inside his house, the air conditioning systems, the furniture, the TV sets and all the other luxe amenities add up to millions of rupees. The minister’s business income is of Rs 18.30 crore and his salary is of Rs 31.54 crore (approx. $34 million).
