A-G House in Melbourne, Australia by dKO Architecture

The A-G House is a contemporary home for an extended family that includes members from three different generations. A project like this is never easy to complete, given the various and very different needs of the family’s members. This challenging task was given to Australian studio dKO Architecture, who did an excellent job with it.

Located in Melbourne, Australia, the residence was completed in 2011. Three different wings, connected by a functional spine, make up the house, each one of them reflecting its inhabitants’ personalities through its unique furnishings and fittings. Clean lines characterize the architecture of all these spaces, while a palette of warm timber, stone, and glass gives them a cozy feel.

As the family has a strong Italian heritage, cooking is a very important part of their social and personal lives. For this reason, dKO Architecture created separate kitchens for the grandmother and the mother, each one being adapted to their individual cooking styles. There is another cooking facility in the outdoor area, ideal for open-air family get-togethers. Completely fulfilling every generation’s needs, this single-story contemporary home is a truly inspiring project.
