Stanley Ho Buys White Truffle For $330,000

You would think fungi are negligible products of nature, but you would be surprised to find just how much are some people willing to spend on them! Well, not on any kind of fungi, put on a particular species that is considered to be a delicacy.

Yes, you know what we’re talking about: truffles. Some of you probably have no idea just how expensive these edible fungi can get, so let us tell you the latest news. Stanley Ho, a billionaire from Macau, has recently spent $330,000 at a white truffle auction that was simultaneously held in three different locations: Macau, London and Rome.

This was a charity event which raised $417,200. The money was distributed to different charities, as each location of the auction picked one destination for the funds they had raised. The 2.87 pounds truffle was not the first one that Stanley Ho has ever bought. In 2007 and 2008 he spent $330.000 (again) and $200,000 on truffles, respectively.Stanley Ho Buys White Truffle For $330,000
